FAQs
Information to empower you as an artist when seeking to collect royalties on your work.
How do I get my royalties?
You can request a payout of your royalties balance once you've accrued at least $50 USD. On the distribution platform, navigate to the user icon and select My Account, then select the Balance tab to view and make your payout request. Additionally, cash out your earnings by filling the Royalty Request Form (if you haven't already) so we have your bank transfer information.
How much of my royalties do I get back?
Upstarter Plan Members: receive 92% of their royalties! A whole 7% more than the industry standard.
PARVENU Plan Members: receive 93% of their royalties! Thats a whole 8% more than the industry standard.
STOWAWAY takes 7-8% to cover hosting fees and cross border royalty administration costs. Royalties may be subject to taxation based on the territory of the recipient.
How do I change my bank account information?
Refill the Royalty Request Form with your new bank transfer information. Your old information will be destroyed.
Will I be subject to any taxes?
It depends on your territory. Royalties originate in the United States which implements a 30% withholding rate for non-residents. If your country happens to have a tax treaty with the United States, this rate may be reduced. We have taken extra steps to reduce this rate for CARICOM residents. Additional tax rates for your country may apply.
CARICOM residents will be subject to the following tax rates:
Jamaica: 10% US withholding tax (Tax treaty benefit) + 0% local tax= 10%.
Barbados: 5% US withholding tax (Tax treaty benefit) + 0% local tax= 5%.
Trinidad: 0% US withholding tax (Tax treaty benefit) + 0% local tax= 0%.
St. Lucia: 15% CARICOM withholding tax + 10% local tax= 25%.
All other CARICOM states: 15% CARICOM withholding tax = 15%
